During Your Appointment
Remember to breathe! Holding your breath causes you to tense up. Inhaling before the pull and exhaling during the pull relaxes you. Depending on what you are getting waxed, you will be gently guided into positions that assure the best wax. Your may even be asked to help hold the skin tight. The tighter the skin, the less it hurts.
Minor redness or blood spotting is normal, especially if your hair has been shaved over a period of time or if your hair is coarse and thick. Histamine reactions are also normal and can appear as small red bumps or larger welts. Consult your physician on whether or not you can use Benadryl, which aids in preventing histamine reactions if taken before your appointment.
A pre-waxing cleanse will be applied to remove bacteria, oil, etc. from your skin. After your wax, a post-waxing calming gel will be applied. Depending on the area, high frequency will be used to kill any remaining bacteria and help prevent infection and heal your skin and any breakouts. Please inform your esthetician if you have a pace maker, any metal implants, or are pregnant or possibly could be. High frequency cannot be used if any of these apply to you.
